In order to detect the underlaying cause of elevated liver enzymes, further testing is necessary... as you were recommended. Liver enzymes can be elevated for many reasons: as a side effect of medications (antibiotics,non-steroid antinflammatory drugs,anti-seizure drugs etc.), drinking alcohol, diabetes, infection-hepatitis, infective mononucleosis, elevated triglycerides, gallstones, tumors of the pancreas / liver / or bile ducts.You can consult an internal medicine specialist for further examinations.
