Twitching Feeling With Sharp Pain
Posted: 06-07-07 02:27am

Hey, with in the last year I've been steadily noticing a pain right below my shoulder blade, and its been getting worse with time. The way it feels is like a twitch, or small pop, maybe a small muscle twisting, then it is accompanied by a pain. So its a pop, then pain.. Most of the time its just a really quick and mild pain, but other times like just now, it starts off as a burning feeling, then I feel the pop, and the pain stays for 10 seconds with a burning feeling, tonight I had to lay down because the pain wouldn't go away. An important part is that it always happens when I am looking down. 80% of the time I get it is while cooking diner looking down at the counter. But I feel it everyday.

I don't think its an emergency, more of a muscle problem of some sort, and am not planing on going to a doc, thats why I came here Wink. But maybe someone here knows what my problem is. Its also worthy for me to note that my mom has similar problems, and doctor after doctor they couldn't diagnose it until finally they said it was "fibromyalgia?", but she didn't develop that till she was in her 50's and I am 19.

Possibly from my posture? I spend my life on the computer.

Thanks

Hello Cowbell!

There are a couple of things you can try before going to a doctor that could work for you. If you have not already you should try getting a professional massage. They can do wonders for any kind of back pain! You don't have to spend a ton either, most massage therapy schools offer discounted rates for their training students, so find one of them in the phone bokk and treat yourself (I go once a month!).

You could also try taking a magnesium supplement (http://www.unapproved advertising spam.com/products/magnesium_supplement.htm l). Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer and if the source of your trouble truly is muscle spasms then this might be the answer for you.

If the problems get worse or if you have exhausted all options you should deffinitely see your doctor because it could be signs of something more serious on its way. Or go to the chiropractor! They specialize in back pain and injuriies and should be able to put you right.

Good Luck!
