yeah ive got the same thing.....you go to the doctors they put you on these pills like nexium or protonix and most likely will also order a procedure called an "EGD" in which they insert a camera into your esophogus to check it out. basically you end up on these pills that make it 90 percent better, although dont be fooled, you never can stop taking them. its like miracle medication but as soon as you stop its worse than you can imagine. the only surgical option from what ive learned doest really work most of the time. GERD is becoming really common and unfortunately there is no cure. there is a surgery they have developed in europ that isnt available in the u.s yet, although it looks very promising. its called the esophy ELF, you can check there website out at endogastric solutions.com

There is life after Nexium, at least for me. My stomach is continually stirred up because of thyroid medications I take; nothing I can do about that. GERD got really bad; had all the procedures, got Nexium, which helped a great deal. But it's too expensive even with my insurance (surprise) so some months I have to do without. Prilosec does almost as well, but with one caveat: I have to be extra careful what I eat and drink. The main culprit is caffeine. As long as I commit to having just ONE cup of coffee a day in the early morning, I'm fine. Coffee is indeed my main enemy--I am amazed at how one cup too many can trigger symptoms that last well into the night. It's a matter of discipline. So much GERD is due to our eating and drinking habits. And those we can break without having to enslave ourselves to Big Pharma.

i cant believe how happy all these docs are to throw around samples of these pills that make addicts out of unweary sufferers. 2 week therapy it says on the packaging, yeah right. doctors are just like pushers nowadays, giving away the first hit.
