in a previous post, Ann brought up a great
topic. I posted"you know, I use to not
douche at all. My mother kind of taught me
the same thing in my coming of age. But, I
started to after my first baby. I heard my
husband having a converation with a friend
who's wife had a baby about the same time
I did, and they were talking about how
"it" just never smells the same again!!!
So, in came douching...."
Some say, scientifically, it messes with
you ph. What do you guys think? Now, I'm
stuggling with how I was raised and now
what I feel...

I just posted in your other thread.
But I'll add more to my douching
experience. I started doing it when I was
about 17. I would do it after my period
because I was afraid I wasn't clean
enough. Sometimes I would do it twice a
month. Each time I got very dry and
irritated. I got pregnant with my first
baby about 5 months after I turned 18 and
my OB told me not to douche ever
especially while pregnant. I tried
different brands and types but they all
irritated me. So, for me at least, I
think that it does mess with your system.

I personally do. It does throw off the ph
levels in your vagina, but you can buy
vaginal suppositories that restore and
keep the ph level healthy "down there".
They work great and I don't have to worry
about not feeling fresh or the level of
ph. They sell them at local drug stores
and walmarts. They are called "rephresh"
they also do make other brands.

Most women should never douche.
Gynecologists almost always advise against
it. If your vagina is healthy and normal,
it can take care of itself. Douching not
only increases your chances of various
infections, but it also makes it easier to
spread those infections to your uterus,
fallopian tubes, and ovaries. When those
things get infected, you could be looking
at some serious problems. It could mean
fertility problems or an increased chance
of ectopic pregnancy.
Some women do it to feel cleaner, but it
just is not worth the serious health risks
in my opinion. I would rather feel
slightly on the "unfresh" side than be
infected!

do you have a reason why you feel you
should douche? the phrase "if it ain't
broken, don't fix it" springs to mind.
i have never douched. i never will. i
think it can only do harm to your body.
your vagina is designed to be
self-cleaning. i dont understand why women
would feel the need to do it. to me, it's
about as stupid as trying to wash inside
all your intestines, or taking out your
eyeballs and washing out the eye sockets.
