Sunburn And Bbt
Posted: 06-05-07 10:09am

Hi girls
I was out and about on the weekend and got a wicked sunburn. I know, I know...STUPID!!

I've noticed that my temps have shot up and FF tells me I o'd on cd10...but I think it's way to early to have o'd. I'm now on cd 14, and I have been getting negative opk's all along. Do you think the sunburn may have increased my BBT?

I really hope I didn't miss my ovulation date. That would really make me cry as I'm scheduled for my second IUI sometime this week...
HELP!!

Sorry to hear about the sunburn. Walmart has some great spray stuff for it. Its super cheap to. I think its burn aid? Or something to that effect.

Anyways...I would assume that a sunburn would raise your bbt. Have you taken your temperature at any other time during the day? Do you know if you are running a fever otherwise? Because that is an option on ff. Have you been using opk's since before ff says you o'ed?

Hello!
Ok...I started using opk's from cd12. I usually start on cd10, but thought that i could wait a bit since I never get a + that soon. My opks are getting darker as the days go on...so I think I'm safe.
I am also getting a cold sore (grrrrrrrrrr). Cold sores are also called fever blisters...and I get them if I burn my lips. So I think that both the sunburn and cold sore are doing a number on my temps. I don't have a fever durning the day, my skin still feels burnt though.
I guess time will tell.
thank you

I think your safe too. I'd be willing to bet money on your bbt being off because of the sunburn. If your opks are getting darker I would assume that means your getting closer. So you should be fine. What day to you normally o on?

Question: When you do the iui, do you call them the day you get a temp spike/+ opk and then they see you that day? What happens on the weekend? I know these are stupid questions, but, I've always been curious. Embarassed

KRISTY!! There are no stupid questions!
This is the IUI process my clinc has me follow, and I think it is the same for most clinics.
As soon as you get a + opk, call the clinic. It has to be the 1st or 2nd urine void, as I need to contact the clinic before noon. When I call them, they make 2 appointments for the next day
1. For my dh to come in and give his sample in the morning,
2. For me (I come back 2 hrs after dh and they inseminate me)
They need the 2hrs to "wash" the sperm sample. (take out all the dead or misformed ones)
The reason they make the appointment the next day after a + opk is because we normally ovulate within 36 hours of a +opk.
They also tell us to bd the same night of the iui, and the following night as well.
I used to have regular ovulation dates until we started ttc. Then they were all over the place. But since I started Clomid, I think it regulated things for me. Honestly, I feel better on clomid than I do without it! I must be missing something naturally from my horomones because on clomid I have no PMS, no sore bbs, no spotting a week before af.
This is my 3rd cycle on clomid, and the last cycle I o'd on cd 16. So that would make it this Thurs. So tomorrow I should see + opk. We'll see.
Thanks for your help girl

I hope that you haven't ovulated yet and that it was the sunburn that raised your temps.
Thanks for the iui info, I was wondering about that stuff as well if we ever have to go down that road.

We are on the same cycle day, so hopefully we will get that positive the same day. Not that it matters for me right now, but you know what I mean.

Good luck and tons and tons of sticky baby dust for this next iui

**hugs**

Thanks lady
I guess you will be ttc in a couple of months!! You'll be an expert charter by the time you can 'try' and have it all figured out.
I will let ya know if I get my +opk tomorrow.

Guess what. I just got back from the RE and they did an ultrasound that confirmed my suspicion. I already ovulated. Sad
I missed it altogether. No iui for me this month.
That means I o'd on cd10!!! That is reeeeeeeeeeally early, especially being on clomid.
I got another perscription for clomid to try one more time.
Ugh...here we go again.

I know...it's almost a joking matter....the laws of the universe are laughing at me saying "ha ha...you can try and control this all you want, but we are going to do it my way... you can't force it, It will happen when it's meant to happen"

I don't think we bd'd at the right time as I had no idea I was going to ovulatge on Cd 10!! We bd'd on Cd8 and cd11. Who knows...but I'm not going to hold my breath.

dpressd...are you using the clear blue? They ask to test on day nine and mine has been really reliable.....I'd say if you are doing it again next month to keep you options open...meaning maybe you always tend to ovulate earlier than even the sticks are indicating...my obgyn says that it's possible that peopel ovualte much earlier and sometimes much later than teh LH surges indicate and to have sex between days 9 and 18 for a normal cycle...maybe you and you husband haven't had luck becasue you have been ovualting earlier than anyone expected....I've read elsewhere that people can ovulate even earlier than day 10...maybe you should do it starting on day 8???????????????????
