Q: Flu ache symptoms w/ no fever : Common Cold ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 5th, 2007
For 2 days now I have been having, sporadically, the symptoms of flu-like aches, chills, no fever. It lasts for about 4 hours and then goes away. What could be causing this? I ache at the waist and neck like when you are about to get the flu. I also feel fatigued. Anyone have any suggestions?

Due to the symptoms you report -aches, chills, no fever, fatigue... it seems that you've been experiencing a common cold. The flu is characterized by a high fever (from 37,8 degrees Celcius up to 40 degrees) that is usually continuous. The flu comes on suddenly and the symptoms are much more severe than the common cold. Additionally, these symptoms may be present during other condition ...so you'll want to check out the possibilities with your primary physician. You can first consult your general practitioner and then seek a specialist for further diagnosis. It is possible that you just need rest.
