New User, Becoming EHEALTHy
Hi there. I just got a little bit paranoid b/c I realized something.. I went to my colleges womans clinic, got an exam, pap smear, etc. and a year prescription of ortho tri cyclin lo. Well, that year has come to an end. I recently needed a new doctor due to an injury and a follow-up appt. So I have a new doctor and a scheduled physical gyno exam for Monday June 18th. That was the soonest they could get me in b/c its a busy place. I thought I'd be ok, but I just realized this.

This Saturday June 9th I will take my last active pill of my very last pack. I have no more. So, when the following Sunday rolls around and I'd be scheduled to start a new pack I won't have anything to take. My exam, however is the very next day. So, I'm sure they will figure it out for me and tell me what they recommend doing. Any suggestions though?

I am sexually active. Does this mean that I will have to go an entire month without being on the pill and wait until my next period Sunday to begin a new pack or do you think the doctor will have me start a new pack of pills on that monday?

Any advice - I'm just worried because I don't want to go without it. I want to stay on it so I'm continually protected and my period stays on track.

Please help!! Thanks!

Extremely EHEALTHy
You can start your next package as soon as you get it, but you have to use protection for 7 full days since you would be late starting the first pill of your new pack.

You may also be able to call your old clinic and ask them to give you a month prescription. If you explain your situation to them they will probably do it. They can call your pharmacy with the prescription and you can pick it up today. But they probably won't give you more than that.

This kind of thing is pretty common.
