However, I was charting my BBT and there was no visible temperture shift before the bleeding.
Current medical treatment: In October I went to my GYN and she put me on Prometrium for 10 days to "kick start" my period. After 5 days on the regimen, I started bleeding. I informed her and she said that was a good sign. In December I took an Hgb1 test (measures blood sugar for previous 3 months.) It was 4.5 or 4.9% (normal). No current meds"
The most common causes of irregular menstrual cycles are : hormone imbalance, stress, dietary problems, and thyroid conditions. Irregular periods may also be a sign of more serious disorders, especially endometriosis or PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). Therefore, all these conditions should be considered. Fertility depends on ovulation: if a woman experiences normal ovulation, the chances of getting pregnant won't be affected by the irregularity of the periods. You can consult your gynecologist for more advice and to request diagnostic procedures for identifying the cause of these irregular menstrual periods.
