Q: Itch & rash on skin ... + numbness
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 4th, 2007
A couple of days ago I was trying on my dress for my 8th grade semidance at school. I hadn't taken the tags off yet, and they were itching me like crazy. I took off the dress and went to scratch my back, but there was a small spot where I couldn't feel anything. I wasn't sure if I was imagining it or not, but when I swept my fingers over the spot I couldn't feel anything. I went into my parents room to use their double mirror to see my back, and to see if there was a rash or something. My back looked fine. Still not sure if I was imagining it, I picked up a cold belt buckle that was in my parents room and dragged it across my back. I couldn't feel the coldness when it went over my 'numbspot'. I told my parents about it, but they said not to worry about. My mom looked at my back afterwards and culdnt c anything, and the spot where I couldn't feel anything was so small anyway. A couple days later (today) the spot on my back has grown signifcantly, & I cnt feel places I cud b4. I'm scared

According to the symptoms you describe (a spot at the back of the skin together with itching and a rash), you might be experiencing some type of allergic reaction of the skin. Since it has continued to spread, you may visit a dermatologist for an expert opinion, diagnostic tests, and advice.
