After many years of pain, I decided to try on the foreign forum. I have strange problem with my voice and throat. I've always
liked singing, but since a few years I just can't. I have much phlegm in throat (and deeper) and also in nose. Situation is better
in the morning (after night much phlegm is in the top of throat and is easy to get it off) and one day after alcohol consumption
(for a few hours) and worst after drinking citrus juices and milk. I've visited a lot of medical centers and doctors - e.g.
laryngologists - in my country supposed me to be a hypochondriac, because they found nothing. I was truly amazed when found person
with identical symptoms on the internet forum. Here are my - our - symptoms in the summary:

- much phlegm in throat (especially in the morning);
- voice problems - not so serious in the morning, worse from afternoon to the evening. Symptoms: hoarseness, dullness, higher
tone;
- the best betterment after antibiotics therapy, but really short-term;
- good shape of voice one day after alcohol consumption (no phlegm) for a few hours;
- complete decline of falset;
- rheum almost 24h;
- discomfort while speaking, feeling of pressure in larynx area;
- strange feeling while drinking cold fuzzy drinks (hiccup-like);
- scratch feeling in throat with citrus drinks;
- unpleasant smell from mouth (especially in the morning, with the greatest amount of phlegm in throat);

The voice quality is related with amount of phlegm. Almost everything (except the falset issue) is fine when there's no phlegm in
the body (very rarely).

In addition, I have skin problems - regular whelk or dryness, but I don't know if it has any connection.

Does anybody have an idea what can it be? How to beat that annoying phlegm? I have tried so many methods and medicines.

Every help is appreciated.

It sounds like you have chronic allergies. It went away when you drank alcohol because it cuts the phlegm and cleans you out. You can make a cough medicine naturally with 1/3 whiskey, 1/3 lemon juice, 1/3 honey mix and heat well. This will clean all the mucous out.

It gets worse when you drink milk because milk makes the mucous thicker. Just avoid what makes it worse and use what makes it better. Maybe get on some allergy meds like zyrtec d.

voice related throat disease, treating a hoarse voice
I don't know if your are still out there, but I have also experienced a loss of my singing voice. I had a break from singing for about six months. In December of 08 I got a nagging cold that just seemed to hold on for weeks. I noticed that my I was getting a continual smell of something like damp flour which does not seem to go away. I then tried one day to sit down and pull out my guitar and music to sing. My voice was cracking and non-existent in some ranges. I found that I had to really strain to achieve other easy notes that I never had problems with before. This is incredibly depressing. I am at the beginning of my quest to rid myself of this problem.

For you I would suggest that you do the eat and see method. Keep either a mental note of what you ate then pay attention to whether it makes you start hacking or continually clearing your throat. If so, you are having mild allergic reactions to what you have just eaten. I know that the combination of a high fat food with sugar sends me over the top and I find myself pulling out the tissues and continually blowing my nose. For me it's a piece of warm apple pie with cinnamon and vanilla ice cream. It sends my sinuses into an uproar. I stay with chicken instead of steak and also fish is good. I hope this helps.
