Q: Can Orgasm x/ masturbation but not penetration ... what's wr
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 3rd, 2007
I think I may have a problem. I have been masturbating since I was 5yrs old. I wasnt sexually malested or anything like that but My parents would leave me home by myself and they had porno channels. I unfortunately came across it one day and started masturbating from then on today. I am now 23yrs old. Even when I first started I would have orgasms. I didnt know what they were called until I got alot older. I had sex for the first time when I was 15. This sucks but I never ever had an orgasm having sex with any of the boyfriends I've had. I am not permiscuous. Only had sex with 4 guys my whole life. But why do I get sooo much pleasure out of masturbation and not sex? The boyfriend I have now pleases me fine but I have not had an orgasm with him. I want too really bad. Did I damage something for me not to have one with my boyfriend? Whats going on and how do I have an orgasm while having sex? Please help me.

According to your description, it seems that you are probably experiencing a kind of sexual disorder called... "lack of orgasm". However, it's not that you experience a real lack of orgasm because you can achieve orgasm via masturbation .... it's that penetration does not bring on an orgasm. The most common reasons for lack of orgasm are inadequate sexual stimulation and psycho-emotional causes. It is hard to say what is the real cause may be in your case but it seems that watching porn-movies and masturbating at the age of 5 may have psycho-emotional consequences for an adult sexual life. You probably have gotten used to achieving orgasms by self-satisfaction. Why don’t you try masturbating in front of your partner? Then he could try satisfying you by “fingering” or oral sex. Finally you may achieve orgasm by penetration. You will need some time to overcome the problem.
You can ask for an expert opinion from a psychiatrist who specializes in sexual disorders, called a "sexologist".
