Over the past 18 months i've noticed a sand-grain sized hard body lodged in my skin at the site of a sebaceous gland on my penis. it doesn't seem to disrupt the gland's function but it doesn't give any sign of coming out either. I'm becoming worried and anxious to have it removed but i can't bring myself to talk about it with anyone, so much so that i am considering self surgery. Could you please provide me with any info on what the formation might be, and the implications of its excision, whether by a doctor or myself?

Thanks,
T.

According to the data you've given and the description of a "sand-grain sized hard body lodged in the skin at the site of sebaceous gland of the penis", it seems as if you may be experiencing a sebaceous cyst. If the condition bothers you, the lump can be removed under local anaesthesia. You can visit a dermatologist or urologist for further treatment details.
