Q: Milk Problem ..

Today .Jenny has been sick twice so far, & it seems to coincide with her having her milk. This morning she seemed fine, until about 20 minutes after her bottle, when she threw up everywhere. She was fine straight after.. all smiles as usual. Then I gave her a yoghurt thinking she'd be hungry after bringing most of her breakfast up, & that went down no problem.

Well after her second bottle it happened again.. she was sick everywhere Sad I put her in the bath & changed her clothes for the third time today, & I just gave her some butternut squash & another yoghurt (her favourite meal at the moment) with a drink of juice to try & replace some of the fluids she lost through being sick. That seems to have gone down fine too.. so solids aren't making her sick, but milk is.

Can babies become intolerant to things after so long of having it without a problem? It's the same formula as she's had since she was born. My poor baby.. she really wanted another bottle & I gave her solids instead.. she wasn't impressed.

What kind of formula does she take?
Ava couldn't tolerate the milk-based and a lot of babies can't.
She was just fussy at first, then it made her throw up. I'd switch formula and see if that helps.

That's what I did. She's been on soy ever since. I try the milk based again a couple of months later and she threw up, so we went back to soy.

i'd give your health visitor a call. My neice was alergic to regular formula (sma gold) but she only started showing signs of an allergy when she was two months old. It turned out that she couldn't have the soy formula either and had to have a special milk on prescription. She's now coming up to two and has tottaly grown out of it, she can drink cups of cows milk without any reaction at all now

Ah it's ok, I think she just had a bit of a tummy bug. She's had three bottles without a problem today, so I think it was just a one-off, thank god!

Thanks for the responses though =)

zan, sounds like a bug to me ...christian was sick all week with fever and threw up all his food but not his milk on 4 occasions. I would like to ask though why you give jenny yoghurt...i heard that its not safe for a baby that age because of the many bacteria it carries..what type do you give her.?

Muller "little stars".. I think it's technically fromage frais, although I'm not entirely sure what the difference is. It says it's suitable from 6 months on the packet & claims it's "ideal for weaning". She loves it!
