Q: Low Numbers

Hi
I am on another forum for kidney disease but I am also a Type II diabetic. I am considered "diet and exercise controlled". My question for anybody is what would bring your numbers low when you are not taking any medication or insulin. I started monitoring my blood sugar closely to see if I could find a pattern. My blood sugar would always drop to around 65 - 70 before lunch. Any ideas?

Low Numbers
My husband is Type 1 and he has issues ith low numbers occasionally. AT times, his blood sugar w ould plumitt so quickly we sould have to all 911. Now hs takes a natural product that actually stabilizes his blood sugar within minutes because the product uses nano technology. I guess what that measn is that the molecul;e sare broken down so small that the product immedialtely absorbes within minutes into the bloodstream and lining of the stomack. Ever since he has been taking Essentials - a pink drink - we no longer have to call 911. What a blessing that has been for us! This has helpe dhim live a less stressful life!

Changes In Bg
I am a type 1 diabetic, and while using Lantus and Novolog insulins, the only things I have noticed to affect my Bg levels are exercise and the sun. During the winter, my levels are very normal, but late spring and into early fall, any outdoor exercise can lower my Bg dramatically and very quickly. Along with regular monitoring, you should carry some kind of glucose. I have found Insta-Glucose to be very effective. I got several tubes of it from my diabetes educator, but I have also seen it at the pharmacy as well. It is a little tube with liquidish glucose (a consistency not unlike molasses) that is so sweet you will want to brush your teeth soon after.

Glucose In a Tube
My husband has tried many glucose gels in the tube and has found them to be very disgusting. He feels like he is eating pure sugar. The Essentials that he takes is like a Superfood drink that absorbs immediately into the bloodstream and it actually has a delightful berry taste. By drinking it he also gets his RDA of vitamins, minerals, essential fats, calcium, protein, fiber, etc. For him - he is replacing a meal and losing needed weight. He takes one for a snack and two for a meal. He carries them with him wherever he goes - even when he's driving he has them in his glove box so he can access it immediately when he gets low. Exercising causes my husband to get low blood sugars too. I t's amazing how the seasons can dictate your level of activity!

Very interesting. I always thought that low blood sugar only occured with Insulin-dependant Diabetes. I try and control my diet and I walk every day, usually in the evening. Yet my blood sugar is usually very low just before lunch. It's not that it is so high, but the fact that it fluctuates so much. From 60 - 220. This, of course, makes my A1C around 7.0 which seems normal.
