Hi everyone! Has anyone ever experience a change in Seizure types?
I hope someone out there can understand. I've had Complex-Partial Seizures for the past 20 years. I'm now starting to experience a change in the type of Seizures I experience. My Seizures have gone from minute - which is to say the seizure happens and within 10 seconds, I'm already pretty much back to normal. To now, I'm experiencing seizures that last longer and are becomming more frustrating. It's like I'm always trying to solve a puzzle!
For example, I was alphabetizing my adresses (on index cards) when I had one of these type of seizures. During the seizure (which seemed to last forever) I found myself trying to put these index cards together. When I came out of the Seizure (which was only really seconds later) I had 9 Index cards neatly placed upon my desk - all lined up in 3 x 3 rows. It was so weird. I don't remember actually doing this.
Before I had the seizure I had a stack of "blank" index cards set aside and I was alphabetizing my adress cards -- the seizure happened -- when I came out of it there was this neat 3x3 row of "blank" index cards sitting on my desk (in front of my computer).
Another thing that is changing is the fact that I totally forget things. I get up to do something and upon standing my mind is blank -- I haven't the foggest of idea of what I was gonna do!
I made appt w/ my Neuro; but, I'm already having 2nd thoughts and leaning towards cancelling this appt. The reason -- I'm afraid that my next step is Brain Surgery! I've been on most of the meds used to control Seizures, like Tegretol, Phenobarbital, Dilantin, Debekote; Klonopin plus all the different combinations of these meds. I'm currently taking Felbatol and Keppra. My Neuro told me when I first started taking Felbatol that if this med didn't work, it was surgery for me. This SCARES ME!!
Has anyone outthere ever had this happen to them?
