Anyone Else With Swollen Feet And Ankles???
Posted: 05-29-07 13:12pm

Three days ago I came home from work then went to play minigolf, and when I came home, my feet were swollen.
Since then they get swollen everyday. I try putting them up and the swelling goes down a little, but they swell right back up again. I am 27 weeks pregnant and I am wondering what I should do or if I am just going to have to live with the cankles.
Or if you ladies have any tips for me that would be great. thanKS

I had majorly swollen ankles last week after I had spent the afternoon shopping at the mall. The next day they were still a little swollen. I talked to my doc about it at my appointment and she said I had to come back today, 5 days later, to check my blood pressure again to make sure it isn't toxemia or preeclampsia or whatever. She told me if I start getting more swelling in my hands or face to go straight to triage but I haven't had any swelling since my last appointment. I am 32 weeks and I don't know if it makes a difference what part of pregnancy you're in but I guess it doesn't hurt to check with your doc. I thought it was just par for the course because I've known a lot of other women who have had swollen ankles during pregnancy but my doctor seemed a bit concerned and told me to take it easy and put my feet up if they started to swell again.

As long as your bp stays fine it should be okay. I get swelling very bad and it is kinda scary because I have protein in my urine (they check that everytime). My dr tells me to lay on my left side and drink lots of water. I am also trying to keep my feet up.

I have kankles so don't fell bad. They are ugly but at least it's because of a baby.

Thats true, at least its cause of the baby! When it happened the first day I was like OMg!!! I thought I was having some kind of allergic reaction! But I am going to the doctors next week so I'll let him know.

Now i have a question. I work in a casino in the cashier cage. I am on my feet for 8 hours a day. There is no way to keep my feet up at work in this situation. Is this going to effect me badly? My BP has been good. High BP runs in the family so that has me a bit freaked, but it's been good so far. But the kankles have me a bit freaked too..

how far along are you, .holly? you should be fine. just make sure when you get off work, you take it easy & put your feet up for a while. stay hydrated & snack a little bit from time to time if you can. it's easy to get light headed & nauseous when you're on your feet for that long. when are you going to take your maternity leave?

oh, & here's a tip.. if you make a new thread to ask your question, you'll probably get more replies!

Thanks Smile But yes i am only going on 14 weeks. And when i do go home after work i lay around, and rest a bit. I try my hardest to get my fiance to rub my feet... But i'm sure we all know how that goes haha! I'm just trying to drink lots of water at work, and when i'm at home i get my juice, and milk in.

if i were still working i would definitely invest in some super comfy flat shoes with room for my feet to swell in. i can barely even fit my slip on sandals anymore and my heels get so sore when i have to stand for too long. just try some cushy shoes that will keep your feet comfy even if you can't put them up until you get home.
