My 12 year old daughter has dyslexia, adhd, ocd and tic disorder. While on risperdone, she has gained a massive amount of weight. We tried many drug trials to find something to replace risperdone -- without success. Finally, we ordered abilify from the states through the special access program in ottawa. We started abilify on december 18th, 2003. It has stopped her weight gain. She has remained at 140 lbs. For 2 months, now. The only problem is, 30 pills cost $405.00!! She should have at least 1 1/2 each day -- or more. This is over $600 per month. Manulife doesn't cover this cost because this drug does not have a canadian din number. Do you know of any charitable organization that would help us pay for this medication? We want to put the health of our child first, but we are finding the cost very stressful.
We need help now!!
