Top & Side Foot Pain On 1 Foot At a Time Every 7-8 Month Posted: 05-27-07 19:16pm
This morning I woke up feeling like my
left foot had been broken during the
night. Immediately I recognized it as a
recurring issue I picked up in the last
few years.
I am 22 and overweight enough to be a
possible factor but I can't find out what
this is.
My foot just radiates pain but looks and
feels perfectly fine to the touch. The
pain mainly comes from the sides and the
top but radiates out and up the leg where
it stops before the knee. The last few
instances have all begun the same way with
me feeling fine the night before and then
waking up with the pain. It starts out bad
but gets a hek of a lot worse as the day
goes on. It gets so bad that after sitting
or laying for an hour or two it is almost
unbearable to walk on my bad foot. However
if I continue to walk on it for awhile it
gets a tad better but still makes walking
painful. If I am resting it and it is
touched or bumped it feels like someone
taking a hammer to it, if I don't mess
with it at all it still throbs.
This is the 3rd or 4th time and both my
feet have had this same problem but always
1 at a time. I don't think it is diabetes,
though I am definitely a candidate,
because there is no discoloration. I also
don't think it is gout because of the
location and behavior of the pain.
In the past the bad pain lasts 2-3 days
and then for another 2 I am unable to walk
except on the side of my foot. Eventually
I have trouble walking flat even if I try.
In the end I limp for a few more days then
I am fine. The whole process lasts me a
week.
I have tried to ignore it because it is a
condition that goes away but I had
forgotten how painful it is during these
first few days. If it helps I found a link
on the internet just now that is a 100%
duplicate of my problem. The person says:
"I have had an ongoing problem with my
feet. Randomly I will wake up and have
what seems to be massive tendinitis in my
feet. Only one foot at a time, but it has
now happened to both. i cannot walk on
that foot at all when it happens. its not
on the bottom, the heal or the toe, its on
the flat part on top on the right on the
right foot or on the left top of the left
foot. i cannot move my small toes when i
have this. the pain is immense. can anyone
help me? webmd is a joke, all the problems
there relate to toe or arch or heel, none
of these are my problem."
There was no answer to his post except for
someone who told him it might be
Tendinitis afterall, but from what I read
about it, I don't think this is what I or
he has going on.
Obviously this isn't just me and it is a
problem that is unique enough to easily
spot from the description of it. There
must be some answer to what this recurring
and temporarily crippling foot condition
is.
Sorry about the length but I figure it
should help more than hurt. If anyone has
any idea of what this is I would greatly
appreciate an answer or even an idea.
...Oh, If it helps, I did go for a rather
long but smooth walk 2 nights ago.

I too have the same pain, in fact have it
right now. It is very painful that i
literally cannot walk. I have applied ice
nothing, have used magnetic massage
nothing, have used accupuncture nothing,
and the podiatrist are no help because
they see an overweight person and that
becomes the only cause of the pain. Found
a home remedy using mustard greens, while
try and let you know results.
