I was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa (purging) in 2003. Due to my circumstances I was treated very badly in hospital and was not given the opportunity to go to a specialist unit as advised. At the time I didn't want to either and was kept on a general ward until I was sectioned (3) and force fed. I am 5'11" and was only sectioned when my weight dropped to 5 st 6lbs. Against my will I was sedated and fed via an ng tube until my weight began to stabalise. I tried everything to stop it (some things I am not proud of now). I wold pour the "feed" down the sink and top it up with water when left alone in a private room. I was instantly transfered to a hospital unit, as soon as my weight hit a "target figure", that had plaster falling off the walls and I was confined to a room for 23 hours a day which drove me insane! I was eventually released and some 14 months later I met my other half who has helped me enjoy life so much that dieting went compleatly out of my thoughts for a while. I am now trying to loose weight again and have fallen back to the best way I know how, cutting down to just one small meal a day. And yes, I began to get too hungry after a few weeks and started eating everything in sight then the guilt followed and then the releif of getting rid of it a.s.a.p..... the same old story really. but I am not worried because I don't feel it taking hold of me as it did last time.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone knows of any other males who do this to stay thin?

my husband suffered from bulimia, binging/purging when he was about 12-13 yrs old, i dunno that he was ever diagnosed or not, although lately sometimes or at one point i did think he was doing it again and i brought it up to him and i guess he stopped cuz i havent had a need to be concerned since then . but there are men out there that suffer just not as many women. Its more of a female disease then males. Most males are athletes that usually suffer most of the time .
