Q: Weird Stomache Issue
asked by: coolade on May 25th, 2007

Hello All,

I am hoping someone can help me figure out what is wrong...

I have been having this issue with my stomach. It started after a stomache virus I had.....I was having stomache issues after. I would go to sleep and wake up with a feeling of constipation and gas. I would get to work and drink some coffee and i would have a bowel movement. Afterwards I would feel fine up until lunch. i would eat a normal meal and i would feel my stomach start bubbling and gas would come back. throughout the day i would have a bowel movement 4 or 5 more times, never quite relieved. I would even get the sweats and feel very light headed at times before going to the bathroom.....Anyway, I would get home and eat normally and feel kinda constipated and go to bed and start the cycle all over again. this has been going on for almost 2 weeks.

What could be happening here...I am starting to get really frustrated with it.

Thanks!

Hi
Can you not go to your physican and ask for a test for Helicobacter Pylori? If you aren't willing to go this route, try to eat Activia yoghart or store equavialnt everyday for 2 weeks. This really got my stomache back into gear. Had some of the same symptoms you are describing, I was diagnosed as having HPylori and had to go 2 weeks round of antibiotocs to rid this. Hope yo ufind an answer!

Thanks I can go to the doctor but I thought it was just something that would go away. You think Activia would do it?

What would cause such a thing?

Hi,

Thank you for your help. I will run out and get some of this Activia, go to my doctor.....

When you had this problem, what was the ultimate solution? Did you have medicine, just eat this activia or were there other measures?

Thanks

Stomach
You said that you did have a stomach virus and that stays in your system for a couple weeks until it is fully gone. I think this is signs of you getting fully over the virus. Wait another week until you see a doctor

Hi
I felt as though it weresome type of virus to begin wiht. This was back last Nov. 06. Started out as diarreah then cramping. THen costipation, with the gas and air. I also fel hungry, but felt if i ate anything I'd cramp up and have the stabbling pains in my stomach (different areas). Thsi was caused by an infalmmation form gastritis. I'd try to activia for one week, the if things are NOT better, go on to a physican, it takes forever to get na appointment is why I said go ahread and make on.e If you are better you can always cancel it. I also was put ona GERD diet. No fired stuff or fatts foods. Have given up coffee and certain chocolates, tuna, things i really know will kick my ass with indigestion. HAve ben on prevacid, protonic, prilosec and Zantac and numerous generic things to no avail. Have a presc. for the NExium in hte mail on its way. Sure hope this fixes the problem! LIke I stated, you could have somehting entirely different, but i would not wait too long, mine has been ongoing back and forth to same gastro, endoscopy and colonoscopy since last Nov!

Hi
Make a list of the symptoms you have had or are experienceing now. Those same ones may not be present by the time you see your Dr. Are you see a regualr physican or Gastro Dr? Tell you doctor you had a virus and when but also ask if these are possible signs of Helicobactor pylori. Wish you all the luck in the wrold!

Out of curiosity, how are you now with this problem? Have they done a scope for You?

No Scope or anything yet, they took blood Wednesday and have not gotten back to me yet...It seems to have relapsed to something a few days ago, the problem picked up in intensity somewhat and last night I had a really bad stomache cramp which kept me on the toilet for over an hour. Strong gas pressure and cramping....was painful...felt like I was going to burst..... I really dont know what to do....my friends dad is a retired gastro doctor and told me to toss the prilosec type drug i was prescribed. he said it was for heartburn not stomache intestinal issues like this. Said it could be a blockage and the doctor said they were testing for salmonella........So I don't know what is going on right now...

I would also ask them to test for parasites. Although this may not show up on an initial test. I would think by your symptoms you picked up a parasite and it is wrecking havoc on your body. I would also seek out a naturopath and perhaps go a my natural route. It worked for me and so it is just another option. A good cleanse is also another option. Colonix by DrNatura really worked for me. But I am sure you will find the solution that works for you. Let us know what you decided to do and how it is helping you. Good Luck!!
