Every Woman Deserves to Have An Iud Posted: 05-24-07 13:11pm
seriously. I would say every woman should
try an IUD especially with all the
negative side effects of hormonal
contraceptives like pills, depo, nuvaring,
etc. I love love my IUD. I know some
people have neg experience about it but
accordint to the FDA website 98 percent of
women who tried IUD, actually liked it.
So I guess it is still worth a shot. I'm a
member of this community a long time ago
and belive me I've had problems with bc
pills, nuvaring etc. But with IUD there
were no problems. No pills to remember, no
hormones that will affect my LIFE, no
condoms that disturb the spontaneity of
sex. No nothing. It is just one of the
most effective birth control that has very
little side effects.
For those people that are interested what
the side effects are here it goes:
1. cramping after insertion
2. heavier periods with paragard that
usually goes back to normal after 3-6
monts of using it.
3. possibly painful insertion
4. Risk of perforation and expulsion
5. It might be hard to look for a doctor
that will insert an IUD for those women
who haven't had kids. But it's not
impossible. My IUD was inserted when I was
18 and I never had kids. I think planned
parenthood is always more educated and
liberal when it comes to IUD, so if a
doctor refused to insert the IUD, one
could always try pp. They are the best!
And here are the pros.
1. Copper IUD is almost as effective as
tubal ligation and Mirena IUD is even MORE
effective than tubal ligation which means
both types of IUD are more effective than
most of the hormonal bc including the
pill
2. Last up to 5 or 10-12 years depending
on the type.
3. No pills to remember everyday.
4. No hormonal side effects with Paragard
and very little side effects with Mirena
5. Light or no periods with Mirena IUD.
6. Nothing to put on and nothing to think
about before sex.
7. NO mess and practically invisible.
Nobody could tell that you are using an
IUD until you tell them.
8. Very cost effective. The initial cost
might seem high but for a birht control
that last for 10 years you are paying
around 2.91 dollars per month. And if your
insurance cover it, then you would only
pay for a one time co-pay and that will
last for up to 10 years depending on the
type.
FActs about IUD:
1. IUD is your doctor's favorite birth
control. Practically most female doctors
prefer to use the IUD
2. IUD does not cause infertility.
Contrary to what other people thinks. It
is only a misconception due to the
infamous Dalkon Shield back in the
1970's.
3. A woman's ability to get pregnant
returns immediately after the IUD is
removed.
4. Non hormonal IUD might protect someone
from endometrial and cervical cancer.
4. Majority of the women WORLDWIDE uses
the IUD and it is the leading birth
control in most countries especially in
China.

I just can't help sharing this to all of
you guys, Since I couldn't be happier
because I choose IUD as my method of birht
control.
