Q: White Spot In My Throat

hello

Few days ago I had symtoms resembling sore throat - pain when swallowing on the left side - but wheh I saw my throat I noticed that besides being too red there is a single white spot there. The spot is not even in the throat but on the left side of the arch surroinding the tongue and the throat. It's not a lump but just a spot and it is still there. When swallowing I feel a slight irritation at the back of tongue too - at the area where the spot is. I have no other symptoms like fever or cold.

Any explanation?

thanks in advance

Hi - I noticed this was posted quite a while ago, and you've hopefully recovered by now.

What you describe sounds like Strep Throat: white, wet spots or lumps on the back of the throat and uvula, that pop or run when you yawn or touch them?. Usually it clears itself in a few days, or with the help of an over-the-counter strep medication. In severe cases, some doctors will recommend a short course of antibiotics, in case the infection spreads to the adenoids or tonsils.

I too have this,,about every 2-3 months,,It is one spot,,I take a platic skewer and remove it,,Same place as you said,, it is gross but it smell pretty bad. A doctor said it was a pearl. I am now trying to find out more info. Some times it will dis lodge during activity and I spit it out ,,its small like a bb. This last time it was way bigger. It is not puss from infection(I think). Its alway in the same spot.
