Q: Why contact bleeding = vaginal blood after sex ?

I had intercourse on Saturday, using a condom as always and this time when we were done, my husband noticed a drop of blood at the tip of his condom. I thought maybe he was seeing things. However when I went to the bathroom I also saw blood. First I just thought I got my period, however I don't have it. My period has been jumping 4-5 days the past couple of months. Should I been concerned about the blood I saw, or not?

Bleeding after sex, also called "contact bleeding" should always be taken very seriously. Contact bleeding could be a sign of cervical infection or something more serious such as a tumor. A vaginal examination would be necessary to reveal the problem. You SHOULD contact your gynecologist as soon as possible.
