Hi, i was prescribed trimethoprim for a UTI i didnt actually have and i take the microgynon contraceptive pill.

i had sex with my boyfriend with a condom, but once without were he pulled out before he ejaculated.

i know its possible to get pregnant by 'pre-ejectulation' but is trimethoprim an antibiotic that definatley reduces the effectiveness of the pill? because i believe some antibiotics are less dangerous than others
thanx Smile

Did you tell your doc you were on birth control?

Why were you prescribed meds for an infection you didn't have? Didn't the doc test you for an infection? (I think it's usually a pee test)

If the doc knew you were on birth control and still prescribed you with antibiotics, you are probably fine. If you are concerned , use a back up method. As long as the doc didn't say anything, I guess I wouldn't worry. As long as the doc knew....
