Before I fell down the stairs (2 weeks ago), I had had surgery on my knee almost a year before after having persistent patella tendinitis. My surgeon also found a piece of torn meniscus, and fixed something that was wrong with my plica. The surgery went fine, however I developed a nerve-pain syndrome, and until I fell down the a couple weeks ago, was the only thing wrong with my knee besides muscle dystrophy from not being able to use my knee.
Diagnosis that has been suggested: sprained my ACL and MCL. strained my vastus medialis obliquus muscle. incomplete fracture of patella, and "impaction fracture" of the posterior non-weight bearing surface of the lateral femoral condyle. torn lateral meniscus.
Current medical treatment: I'm in a hinged knee immobilizer brace, with range of motion allowed only 0-30 degrees. Also, I've been told to walk on the injured leg like "walking on eggs.""
Your injuries are severe but could be worse. It is hard to say anything about the prognosis. A prognosis after such injuries depends upon the existence of possible complications such as infections or bleeding and rehabilitation period (physical therapy). You can consult an orthopedist for an expert opinion.
