Q: Glucose Monitoring Levels?

Hi, I decided to buy a glucose monitoring device and am a bit confused because it gives a reading that seems to be in a different format to what I've read about. Like it gave 5.2 yesterday and what I'm used to is a number like 90. I found a site that gave what I think might be a guide to both readings like 90-130mg/dl (5-7.2mmol/l), but only on a few examples. I'm a bit concerned because this morning before eating my reading came out as 3.1 which seems very low, I didn't feel too well, but I always feel terible in the mornings. I think in the manual it said it could flash up the words hi or low so maybe it wasn't low enough to be a problem. I also took it this afternoon when I felt unwell again and it came back as 3.1 again. i had just been for walk. The two other times I tried it the results came back as 5.2 and 7. As you can tell I'm new to this so any advice would be great.

Many thanks, Vicki x

I've read that glucose monitoring for hypoglycemics is essentially worthless because they're not designed to catch the sensitive sugar drops we have, they're more for diabetics who can have drastic drops and highs.

Oh well at least when I bought the moniter I got a special card that gets me many things half price in the store I bought it from. i guess I was just curious about what my blood sugar levels were doing as I haven't had a gtt. My doctor just looked a bit blank when I mentioned the hypo thing.

Anyway thanks for posting, love Vicki.
