I know I injured my shoulder, but i am unsure if i should just ice/heat it and wait a few days or go see the doctor sooner.

I'd appreciate some advice.

What happened was stupid. I went swimming yesterday and all was well until i decided to be a kid again and do a hand stand in shallow water and "walk."

By the last time i did it. I don't know how i did it, but i must have shifted all my weight on the one arm. my right arm. Suddenly under water i felt a tearing/gritty sensation. I almost heard it.. It hurt pretty good, but pain went away quick.

The rest of the day i jus felt a small annoyance when i moved my arm a certain way. But the Next day when i woke up. Its been sore all day.

If i do a reaching motion. like when i go to the bathroom lol. Or if i rotate the arm around in circles, if i life something. If i walk around letting my arm hang. All that hurts enough to bother me. But any movements creates a dull pain.

Putting my arm behind my back seems to not stretch as far as my other arm, and hurts the worse. Im not like doing that all day pestering it. I was just getting a sense of the problem.

Anyway. Could that tearing, ripping gritty feeling be something that will heal up in a few days or does that sound more serious? Its not unbearable, but the sound/feeling makes me fear the worse.

Also. Before this happened and now after. I alwayhs have a clicking/pop while rotating my shoulder. Is clicks/pops normal or could it mean a pre-exsisting problem that made it easy to injure.

Im one of those people who could just go hey look, and rotate my shoulder and have them hear a big click and creek to freak um out.

Sorry for the long description. Just thought id let it all out. But if it helps. the pain isnt excruciating like i cant function. but it defintley hurts when used and moved around.

Thanks for any advice. im new to this site.

Hmm. I am not too sure. I would have said give it a few days, but that tearing sound makes me wonder.
