Hey
you have upper and lower splints? normally they only give you one. You wear either an upper or a lower but not both.Ask your doc if you are supposed to wear them at the same time--I highly doubt it. I dont think that the nausea is due to the splint.Tmd can cause nausea I get it all the time. It does go away. You may want to mention this to the doc as well though. I am concerned about wearing 2 splints. Ive never even heard of that being done. Its always one or the other but not both. You may be haveing more damage done by Weareing 2.Are you supposed to wear them both at the same time? this just doesnt sound right to me. What kind of doc do you go to?

There are some "specialists" who have their patients wear a top and bottom bite splints at the same time. I don't quite understand the theory behind it though. Regarding the nausea, it could be the bite splints because anytime you have something foreign in your mouth, you do run the chance of being nauseous, especially when the object(s) take over a large portion of your mouth. There is also the possibility that one (or both) of the splints is going too far back into your mouth/throat. I am extremely sensitive to anyone/anything touching too far in my mouth. That's also how some people can force themselves to throw up when they are bulimic.

I believe this should be discussed with your dentists as soon as possible, though. I hope you are feeing better.

God bless...

Thanks
thanks for responding guys...I've got two splints; the lower I wear during the day and the upper I wear at night. Sorry I didn't really make that very clear. I just got diagnosed a week ago and am going to the Tufts Craniofacial Pain and Disorders Clinic in Boston...this is all VERY new to me... I'll keep wearing them and see where how it goes...thanks again!

Hey
its good that you dont wear them both at the same time I know that no doc does that so it sounded very strange. and no nausea is not caused by the splints. It is a referred pain. the splint may be making the jaw a little "unhappy" and its telling your body it hurts in places that it doesnt. you would have this with out the splints as well if you "upset" the jaw. I know i have it right now and i ve got nothing in my mouth--sort of. I looked into it to make sure.
