Q: Bad Diet ?

Hello, this is my first post here, and I have some questions to ask.

In January this year I decided to loose weight finally, so I cut out all the soda, I've been drinking 6 cans a day for most of my life, so thats 600 calories I cut out, then I totally changed my diet, I went from eating about 2500 calories of food a day to about 1000-1200 calories a day, so total I cut my diet in half, about 1500-2000 calories. But I have been going through a horrible year ever since, and the dummy I am just pondered up the idea that maybe its from my diet..

I've been having a 24/7 feeling of dread, tons of anxiety, I stopped hanging out with friends, lots of stress, I have been having trouble thinking, I am always tired, the physical symptoms like, chest pain, hard to breath, swollen feeling throat, hard to breath through my nose, headaches, dizziness, lightheaded, irritable, mood swings, the whole lot, its been miserable, do you think its from my diet, just from to little calories?

I've been healthy my whole life, and this is just absurd, I just can't live another day like this, but I am afraid if I start switching my diet back, then I'll end up being fatter then I started, because for some reason I never lost any weight, after 5 months of all this, plus at least an hour of exorcise a day. I ended up going to the hospital one night I felt so horrible, but they said it was a anxiety attack. Then I went to the doctor, he couldn't see anything off the top wrong, but I did not mention my diet, then I went and got my blood tested for diabetes and I don't have that.

Oh by the way, I'm 19, male, I weigh 180, and I'm 5' 7".
And my daily intake is usually, a can of soup for breakfast, a can of soup for lunch, and a 600 calorie dinner. The cans of soup are 250 calories each.

Please help.

Thanks!

Its almost definetly your diet. I'm guessing your body is either reacting badly to a lack of caffeine because you stopped drinking soda or it has a lack of carbs which will make it hard for your body to regulate its moods. I wouldn't say scrap your diet but I would first try drinking soda for a couple of days and see if this goes away. If that doesn't work try eating some carbs next time you feel this way. With the carbs you should start to feel better in about 30 mins if carbs were the problem.

If you're finding yourself short on energy try the XS engery drinks. They have very few carbs, no sugar, and little or no caffeine. Most of the engery comes from b vitamins and other good stuff.

There is a method of getting all your mineral levels checked for specific imbalances - I think they just analyse a strand of hair.

You won't get many nutrients from soup. You need fresh fruit or vegetables, and not over-cooked (steaming is the best method), every meal in order for maximum mental health, as for example vitamin C can only be used for a few hours after consumption, so they must be consumed regularly. Have you checked the soup tins for hydrogenated oils? If you consume anything with those in every breakfast and lunchtime I would be surprised if you didn't feel horrible. Organic, locally grown food is much, much better as well. Finally, have you considered celiac disease? That's always worth getting checked for.

Thanks for the responses. Heres my update, I started balancing a wider variety of food into my diet while still trying to keep my calorie intake down, I'm still not loosing weight but I feel a million. I'm starting to give up on the weight loss game, but I did come out with a better diet that will eventually lead to fat loss down the road, no more heaps of taquitos with cheese dumped on top and 3 glasses of soda for a meal. I've been eating lots of fruity, almost to much. Smile I've had 3 pears today and an apple, some steamed broccoli, and some sweet carrots. It seems like I'll start getting my weight down 5 pounds, but with in a week it goes right back up to where I started.
