Q: Hiv Test after Sexual Assault

Hi I was sexural assult may 4 06 , I was tested right away neg also at 4 weeks hiv rna by pcr not detected less then 400 copies elisa neg . 8 weeks hiv rna and elisa was neg 12 western blot and elisa eng at 12 weeks and also rna was neg . 6 months was elisa and rna was neg . 8 months hivdna by pcr was neg and also elisa and 9 months was rna and hiv was neg i1 year western blot and elisa was neg . i seen new dr she siad to me it can take 10 years for it to show on test

I have never heard of it taking ten years to show up on a test. Rarely, it can take up to one year to show up. Like I said, that is very rare though. Usually it shows up within about three months. However, it may take up to ten years for a person to show any symptoms of HIV if they do have it.
