Q: Grinding and clenching teeth question

I catch myself clenching my teeth constantly during the day, not just at night. I also have cold sensitivity toward the back of my mouth on the molars. Are these related? if so, how can I stop clenching? I know you can get a night guard to wear at night but how is that going to help when I do it throughout the day?
