I Yaz Messing Up my Period ? Posted: 05-16-07 16:58pm
Okay, I've been really confused. I'm 21
and I've never taken any birth control
pills before. I'm getting married in June
so I've started YAZ a month ago. for the
first week i took it religiously every
morning but it started making me feel
sick. so my pharmacist I work with told me
to switch to taking it in the evening
before bed. I did this but there were a
few days where I'd forget to take the pill
and doubled up the next morning. So I
switched back to taking them in the
mornings again b/c this works better for
me. I got to my four white pills and had
no period but had my acne and cramps. then
the same day i started the new pack i got
my period (this is the day i'd usually get
it if i wasn't on YAZ) i bled like normal
for two days and now the 3rd and 4th days
i'm barely spotting enough to wear a
liner. Could my switching around so much
mess up my period like this? and will it i
get it once i reach my 4 white pills this
month? any answers would help!

THis is pretty normal I don't get my
period on a 7-day placebo week until day 3
or 4 anyway so it's no surprise that's
when yours came. Eating some mild foods
with the pill can help lessen nausea. You
will get your period next month, but no
one can say on what day it'll come.

Even if you take your pill religiously,
you still might not get it or it might be
messed up. This is just a side effect. And
some pills do make your period lessen or
go away- this does not mean the pill isn't
effective. You still won't get pregnant.
If you are uncomfortable with not getting
your period, ask your doc to switch you to
something else.
Also, the first couple of months you take
it; your period might not be regular just
because it's getting used to it. Again,
this doesn't mean it is not effective.
