Q: Vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy ? Or Birth control pills

Been on the pill since last june, Between last month and this month I took maybe two weeks off the pill with out being sexually active, but have now started my pack this month. Ok, my problem is that a few times this month I've taken it a few hours late, so my cycle is kinda shaky. Now I have about 4days left, but have found that I'm getting my period? It's never happend to me before, although the last few months I've found that I've started to get my period literally the day I stop the pill. But now it's much earlier. The first day or so it was more like old blood, a little darker, and I felt nothing. Now I'm getting all the symptoms of my period, cramps head ache tenderness. My question is, does this sound like the bleeding of early pregnancy? or is it possible for your menstural cycle to come while in the last days of the pill? did my lateness have any effect on this?

Vaginal bleeding is not considered a sign of pregnancy. Rather, bleeding from the vagina is considered a complication of a pregnancy if such a pregnancy previously existed. In your case, it seems that the vaginal bleeding occurred even before you missed your period; therefore, the condition is not likely to be a complication of a pregnancy. Nonetheless, you can take a home pregnancy test to exclude pregnancy for sure. It doesn’t seem likely that taking the regular pill a few hours too late can cause period irregularity. Perhaps an irregular cycle is a side effect from the birth control pills. You can continue taking the pills according to the plan, no matter if you are bleeding or not. If the bleeding lasts for more than 7 days you can consult your gynecologist.
