Q: What Could It Be?

I'm really worried about my little sister. She's been 'hooking up' alot the past year or two. She gets UTI's constantly--like every 4-6 weeks it seems. She needed to see the doctor yesterday and I took her in. Instead of just having the nurse do the normal dip urine test, he sent her to the lab for an actual urine test. She had been complaining of ALOT of pain upon urination, throughout her whole pelvic region, and nausea. He gave her two perscriptions, one for an antibiotic cream and one for an oral sulpha drug. What could she have? She won't say. Could it be an STD?

If she has been having unprotected sex then yes, she could have an std.

Yes....I was thinking more along the lines of which one? --oral and topical perscriptions, pain, nausea, determined by urine test....does this sound more or less like a particular one?

I have no idea, I can't diagnose over the web. maybe all, maybe none. She needs to go to a doctor.

I am not sure what she might have. I am guessing it is an STD of some sort, but I am really not sure which one.

Yes, that's why she needs to go to a doctor.

Omgsh, I knew it was a mistake to come on here.
I'm NOT looking for a diagnosis---just a few ideas among those who might know better than I.

And as I stated in the first place she's BEEN to the doctor. She HAS a diagnosis, she's just too immature to share it with her family who could help her.

Just don't bother, K?

Well given the fact that the people on her arn't doctors and can't perform a test on this person then they can not tell you which std she has, many have similar symptoms so don't get angry when you come on here askign for something that can't be given to you

Well I couldn't tell you which STD either, because many are treated that way and it's likely she could have any of them... but I think if she gets UTIs all that often then it could be another, or it could've progressed into a bladder infection. Though if she doesn't want to tell you I would guess probably not.

It sounds like you are being supportive and giving her someone to turn to when she is concerned about her health, which is important. Have you thought about bringing her to a gynocologist? Maybe getting her on some birth control? It's obvious that she's sexually active and probably isn't going to stop, so it's important that you stress the protection and birth control....

Good luck

I know; I understood your question and realize she has already been to a doctor and that you are not looking for a diagnosis. I think other posters misunderstood you. Don't get angry though, I think everyone meant well. Smile

Well, it seemed to me he wanted to know which std's his little sister might have, which seems like a diagnosis to me.
