Insomnia Is Killing Me! Posted: 05-15-07 06:33am
I have been awake since 3:00 am. I went to
sleep at 12:00 am. Three hours of sleep
and I am wide awake. This stinks. During
the day, I practically fall asleep and
don't take naps because of my active three
year old. My body seems to be already
preparing for the inevitable lack of sleep
I will get for the next year or so.
This baby is very very active. I have now
started to feel hiccups that never seem to
go away. He really likes to hiccup and
move when I am trying to sleep. I love
feeling him move but lately it has gotten
annoying, especially when I try to sleep.
I think I have an extremely hyper child in
there. My heartburn is still bad and now
I get these strange leg cramps in the
middle of the night. My husband does this
whole strange tongue clicking like thing
all night that also drives me nuts. I also
have to roll him over or hit him if he is
on his back because he snores. My son
laughs, cries and talks pretty loudly in
the middle of the night too. On top of
that, I get up about four times at night
to go pee. I actually don't sleep.
Anyone else an insomniac??
I am due in 10 weeks but the doctors are
still thinking I may deliver early. My
cervix is measuring at really short at
2.1. I am hoping that this little one
stays inside of me for at least four to
six weeks!! I know that when the baby
arrives, that I will still be an insomniac
out of necessity!!
I don't even know if what I am writing
makes sense because I can hardly see what
I am writing and my brain is of mush.

I went through a couple of periods where I
couldn't get any sleep. Luckily I was
able to nap during the day, so I would
just get up and sit on the computer or
read or something when I couldn't sleep.
I know the feeling though. Your
metabolism actually doesn't slow down at
night when you're pregnant like it does
any other time because the baby is always
growing and is awake at different times
from you. So it is harder to fall asleep
and stay asleep, especially when you are
sore and have heartburn. Lately, though,
I have been sleeping a lot better and my
heartburn hasn't been too bad. I always
drink a big glass of water before bed and
end up getting up to pee about 4 or 5
times a night though. I feel sorry for
you not being able to get your rest.
Maybe it will change soon like it did for
me. You can always hope it does anyway.
I guess just let people know that you are
not sleeping at night and try your best to
nap sometime during the day or evening.
Good luck.
Oh, and when I used to get a lot of
heartburn, I would use a few pillows and
sleep half sitting up. Not as good as
lying down but it helped with the
heartburn.

I had insomnia really bad during my entire
pregnancy. My doc recommended taking
benadryl. It is safe for you and baby and
it doesn't make you loopy. It helped take
the edge off.
I've been up since 3:00am as well. That
is .Jaylon's new wake up time.

I am an insomniac at the moment too!
Everyone gives me a hard time because I
wake up so late but that is because I
don't fall asleep until like 4 in the
morning! It is getting very frustrating.
My little guy is soooo hyper at night. He
gets the hiccups then too and he likes to
kick my ribs then. I am like you though
and I love to feel him it's just that I
like my sleep too! Oh well, at least I
know he is healthy.

The insomnia is terrible!! I am 26 weeks
and still working a 40 hour week! It has
been very hard some days to keep my eyes
open at work; I just want to take a nap.
I will just get settled into bed and
comfortable (which usually takes a while)
and either my baby girl will start kicking
or my husband will start snoring. There's
usually no stopping him once he starts, so
I just grab my pillow and go to the couch.
Then I have to get settled in and comfy
again. Then I have to go pee, then I get
comfy again, then I need a drink, then I
get comfy again, then I have to go pee. I
just wanna sleep!!!!!!!!

hey, i am 28 weeks and going through the
exact same thing. He seems to be very
active and have hicups at night too lol.
And i work during the day so by the time i
get home i am sooo tired. but if i nap i
definitely won't sleep that night. it is
very frustrating, especially since all i
want to do is sleep on my back... and i
can't. I don't have heartburn though,
but sometimes i am short of breath or my
heart feels like it's racing. My bf
snores too lol. I guess my body is getting
me ready for when the baby comes. Good
luck ladies

Thank god i've just got over the insomnia!
It would take me 3-4 hours to get to sleep
and then when i did get to sleep i'd wake
up 30mins later and then i'd just lay
awake for the rest of the night until my
mum's alarm went off and i would go and
get some breakfast, it was horrible!
