Q: Pain In Heart Only While Lying On Left Side & Back

I am 28 yrs old and have been experiencing sharp pain on my left side under my breast bone (heart) only when I lie on my left side or back. I am 2 1/2 months pregnant, so I am concerned more than I was before. (i have had the pain on and off for over about 10 months). I am in the process of making an appt with a cardiologist, but would like to get your opinion as to whether or not it sounds like I have pericarditis (which I found during a search on the internet).

Good Idea!
It is a good idea to have this situation checked out! But you might also check this out with your regular physician instead of waiting too long! I sure hope it's nothing serious! I have a situation similar but it is mainly heartburn mixed with a little anxiety.

Always,
sandy

I've had a pain similar to that, but I think it was a bone injury. I got hit with a baseball in the chest, and I think it might have possibly fractured the sternum, or hurt some cartilage or something. It stuck with me for about 6 months.

I have a similar problem.Usually during the night I have a slight pain not so much a pain but more of a pressure over my heart. It is also alot more noticeable when I lay down.It has just started a couple of weeks ago and I am kinda getting worried but their is no real pain just a feeling that is noticeable.Could it be stress or a heart problem?I haven't had any recent stress related problems but about a year ago I had family troubles but I don't know why I would be getting this now. Also I have started playing guitar about a month ago and I was wondering since I am holding my left arm in an unusual position for long times that it could cause this feeling.Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Could have your back out, acid reflux, heartburn, anxiety or lots of other things. Could be nothing, could be something, so definately go to the doctor.
