every time I take in a breath, every
single day, hour, minute, second, I want
to die... I feel hopeless, ugly, but
mostly empty... like there is nothing in
the world that could fill up that hole in
my heart. I hate my scars but for some
strange reason it does not feel bad,
actually good focusing on the pain. I want
to get some help, i'm afraid that it'll
get so bad I will kill myself, but I don't
want anyone I know talking to me about it,
not even the counselor. ESCPECIALLY not my
parents. I don't know what to do
anymore... I'm a freak

You are already doing the first thing
right - which is coming here and asking
for help.
The second thing you should do is start
asking for help outside of the internet...
such as your close friends, family, and
professionals.
I will tell you that you are not a freak,
and that you will do just fine. You are a
person, and a great one at that, and you
deserve better (and you know it).
"Start living now. Stop saving the good
china for that special occasion. Stop
withholding your love until that special
person materializes. Every day you are
alive is a special occasion. Every minute,
every breath, is a gift from God."
My suggestion to you would be to start
going out more, even if there's nothing
else to do than just walk, and also to
start making more connections with people.
That will help you keep busy and you won't
have time to think about your depression.
Also, spend more quality time doing your
favorite hobby - that really helps!
All the best to you!

Sometimes life can get you down, and
really down. And just like you said, when
there's no hope, whe we feel empty and
like the world is closing in on us, it
really is hard to feel good about life and
about ourselves! The good thing though is
that there's hope!!! You came here looking
for help because deep down you know that
there's a way out of your misery! I'm
really glad that you took this step
because it shows that you really care!!!
And we're here to provide you with if
anything a little bit of hope! Even though
I would love to tell you what you need to
hear, I'm afraid I don't have the
necessary knowledge to do that, so I
suggest you go back to your counselor and
let it all out! Tell him or her exactly
what is on your mind! Don't hold
back...remember your counselor is there to
help you, that's why he/she is getting
paid, that's why he/she decided to get in
that line of business!!!! So take
advantage of that!!!!
Depression is an illness, and just like
any other illness, sometimes you will need
to take medications to correct it! Just
like a diabetic needs insulin to survive,
well depressed people need
anti-depressants to correct the chemical
imbalances in their brains that make them
feel bad!!!
I hope that you will go back to your
counselor and that sooner rather than
later your life will be a happy and good
one!!! Best of luck to you!! Take care.

I personally do not fully agree with the
above statement. Yes it's an illness, both
of the mind and the body - but it only
works in stages. First the mind gets
'depressed', and then the physical
symptoms manifest.
If you can fix your state of mind by
finding what is currently bothering you
and also finding a way to fix that - then
your physical symptoms will go away as
well.
Meds can help you get out of the pit, but
they will never solve your underlying
problem. They will correct your chemical
imbalance by inhibition methods - but they
won't change your subconscious programming
that you have habitually developed over
the years.
I constantly hear people complain of the
fact that even though they are not
depressed anymore due to the meds - they
are still not happy in this life. I would
advise you do not go the meds way
completely, but if you choose to - then
use it in moderation and only to help you
get out of a miserable state... just
enough to be able to help you fix your
problems on your own.
Some tips on how you need to mentally fix
your depression:
1) Recognize your problems - make sure you
are aware of what they actually are (what
is bothering you that is making you feel
depressed?)
2) Acknowledge and accept your problems
(you are not perfect, no one is... so just
accept any failures of the past and keep
them by your side for future reference)
3) Solve your problems - that means you
need to sit down and think through
everything that is currently bothering you
and figure out ways of fixing each issue
(if you want, you can write out your
planning on paper)
4) Learn from your mistakes - now that you
realized what was causing you your
problems, make sure now to try to not
repeat them... and only do things in a way
that will benefit you
