The only way you can find out if you are carrying more than one child is when you go and have the first scan at 12 weeks. There is no other way to find out

Yep. An ultrasound is the only way to determine twins. Have you had your initial ob visit? Was a dating scan mentioned since this was an unplanned pregnancy?

You could be 'showing' already because of bloating. I bloat so much every month that I look pregnant. So I can't wait to see what I will look like when I do get pregnant. Confused

Ps. How is your fiancee doing with things now? Any better?

I have heard that if you are having twins your symptoms can come on stronger and perhaps a bit sooner. But everyone is different.
But definately an ultra sound is the only thing that can confirm it.
Good Luck

Nah i was just curious is all!! Although now that i think about it, what would be the chance of concieving twins when your father is a twin??

I have my first ultra sound around the 14th June and i cant wait because i think once i see it then will i believe that yes i am pregnant. It still seems so surreal.

Fiancee is coping well considering i'm sick as a dog, grumpy and we havn't had sex for weeks!(sorry if tmi)

I had a relapse and i had a cigarette today. (I know naughty naughty! )and he got cranky with me! Shocked So things are looking up for us!!

if your father is a twin then you have a slightly higher chance i think but i have a feeling that twins run in the maternal line, i could be wrong thoguh twins arn't my speciality! Hey you haven't had sex for weeks try months about five to be exact!

Orgasms can trigger braxton hicks which if you are close to labout anyway can bring on the real contractions also there is something in semen which can trigger labour too but there is such a small amount in a single ejaculation that you would have to have sex alot to start labout before it's ready to start by itself

Semen has the same kind of hormone in it as the prostaglandin they give you to soften or ripen your cervix which can help bring on labour.

As for the twins thing, identical twins do not run in families and a history of fraternal twins only helps if it comes in on the mother’s side.

Because fraternal twins happen by mom releasing two eggs, the dad’s side of the family doesn’t come into play. (Well, at least not until his daughters have kids…)

Fraternal twins result from two ovulations, while identical twins result from the splitting of one embryo into two. Ovulation is a normal process that involves many genes. Embryo splitting, on the other hand, appears to occur randomly by chance.

im sorry, i dont know much about twins, all i know is im have a higher chance of having them, for many reasons

but as to the sex thing, it *can* help but not nessesarly (sorry i jut get a little annoyed when people think its an absolute...i know no one is saying that but im just gonna give you the facts anyway ok ^_^)

first off danni is right, it does cause uterin contractions when you have an orgasm, but that *wont* cause real contractions unless your body and baby are ready....as to what kaerbear said, the pitocin isnt to soften your cervix, it is a manufactured version of oxitoin which is what causes contractions, prostiglandens are what soften and ripen your cervix, that is the gel they put on your cervix, semen has some prosteglandins in it, but the simple fact is, if your body isnt already working on your cervix the amount of posteglandins in semen wont have an effect, you would need the amount of a whale ejaculation to get it to do anything (dont ask why i know that, i just do lol)

the 2 best things ive heard are nipple stimualtion and accupressure, but im not sure as ive not tried these (well i did try accupressure once just to see if it would cause a contraction and it did so i didnt do it again cause i dont want my baby to come before shes ready) but i know people who have done these when their labor stalled and it helped

im sorry for ranting, i just get a little annoyed especially since everyone keeps telling me to have sex to get her out....not only do i not want to force her out, i dont want to have sex, its so uncomfortable at the moment it kills me
