Passing Out And Almost Passing Out Posted: 05-14-07 00:04am
Ok I
would appreciate ANY input on this. I
recently had a fever for a few days and
serious neck pain/headache and bodyaches.
After visiting the local ER they sent me
to another ER in the city. They were
afraid I might had been exposed to
menegitis(?) So of course blood testing
was going to have to be done. Now once
before I had offered to give blood as a
donation and passed out before the process
even began. To those of you who've not
given blood before the blood drawing
begins they simply prick your finger to
take just a drop of blood and when I saw
that I WAS OUT. So no more doing that but
now I'm at the ER getting ready and trying
to stay relaxed and calm to give blood. As
soon as that needle went in everything
started to fade and I said "I'm out guys."
Loud buzzing noises took over my hearing
and it felt as though I was in a deep
sleep until moments later when I awoke to
realize I was in a hospital bed with an IV
going into my arm. Well I relaxed long
enough for them to say, Clint your blood
came back negative for menegitis, you may
go home and relax; we belieeve you just
have the flu and need to try resting. The
symptons did go away but heres the catchy
part. Everyday life is different now. I
recently got a routine TB shot, which I've
always been ok with and I almost passed
out. I went to see a movie and apon seeing
even the littlest of blood I almost passed
out. I went to the mall days after and
after getting onto the escalator I almost
passed out. Everything is so difficult to
manage and I find myself battling to keep
consciencness when seeing blood or moving
too quickly around. I get dizzy and my
stomach starts turning, I feel it coming
on but it never happens. I'm a CNA and I'm
now worried that next time I see someone
get an insulin shot or something nurses
are gonna be picking ME up off the floor.
Does anyone ahve any advice on how to get
over this? Or could this be a potentially
bad side effect of maybe a bigger issue or
rather just typical for someone who has
some uncontrollable embarrassing fear of
getting blood drawn? I appreciate any
input. Thank you.
