Oh no! hope it's sorted now. I'm not a professional in this area, but I know that your teeth can play a part in getting infections in other parts of the body like the throat, ears etc. I've just had my wisdom teeth removed after having months of feeling crap with sore throat and constant dull headaches...It was my bottom wisdom tooth that kept getting infected, and I didn't realise how much of an impact this could have on the rest of my health!

Swollen Cheek
Hi i know this was wrote last year but i seem to be having the same sort of problem as yourself and wanted to know if you managed to get your problme dealt with?

I am currently 37 weeks pregnnat and all throughout my pregnancy ive had a swollen right gland and cheek its never really caused me much bother or been painfull until quite recently to which i have been back and forth to the dentist.

I had 1 xray just on my two back right wisdom teeth and it just showed a possible infection as there was shadowing on the gum(this was then referd to the dental dept at my local hospital). I have been on amoxocillin, co-amoxiclav and now I am on metronindazole (all to be the lowest dose due to my pregnnacy) as the others didnt seemed to have worked. My xray was referd to my local hopsital and the dental dept there advised I need my last wisdom tooth taken out (on the right side) as its impacted. As im a wimp I dont want to be awake even tho I will be going through hours of child labour! so i will have to wait until he decides to come?

im asuming this is a dental problem? I have as my right cheek, jaw and glands are swollen but not entirly painfull just an uncomftable sensation and the only time it seems to cause me mither is when I rise my mouth out with salt water its not painfull its just quite irratating and also this wisdom tooth seems to be slightly irrated as well, its just causing me so much trouble as I dont know what it is ( this is why im frustrated) and I cant sleep that well as its so I just wanted to know if you managed to get your problem seen to and what was the outcome?

I have been back and forth to my doctor and my dentist and no one seems to think anything is worng with me? My normal dentist didnt not even see from my xray that my tooth was impacted. Hopefully before im due to have the tooth taken out they can do a full xray of my face as no one seems to want to investigate what is wrong with me?

I have also been to see few Gp's they did blood tests for mumps & glandular fever andy any other infectiosn to which all came back negative they all seem to think thats nothing wrong with me I even vistedn an ENT doctor to which he advised my gland didnt seem swollen I know my own body and can feel its slightly swollen an my dentist even confirmed there was an infection or possibly still an infection?

MORE OF THE SAME!!!
Hello there.....i suffer from this exact same thing.. but mine happens quite often and is pretty consistently swollen...both cheeks....no pain but sometimes they feel tight or heavy...not quite sure how else to describe it....chipmunk cheeks is one way but i work with the public and am typically very self conscious all the time anyway....this is awful but i have been dealing with it for several years now....but lately it has been somewhat worse...meaning i have bigger cheeks more consistently....i don't know if i'm lacking a hormone...("hypothyriodism"...i've read about that as "swollen cheeks" go)....or if i'm lacking a vitamin or something but if anyone knows a home remedy or has ANY information that might help me.....please post a response....

I'm a 27 year old female and feel so helpless about this situation....THANKS!!!

Kathryn

confused
I'm 25 yrs old and I woke up this morning with my bottom left cheek swollen and feeling somewhat numb (kinda like when you go to a dentist and get prepped for dental work). I have no pain and had no pain in my teeth or gums so I can't tell if its dental related. I got scared and brushed very very very well in the morning followed by mouthwash. In the shower, I just faced my left cheek up to the hot water because my cheek felt somewhat tight and I figured maybe hot water would help. Its been somewhat swollen all day although it seems to be decreasing now. I'm scared (no health insurance), what should I do?

help..my face wont stop swelling
i appear to have a similar problem. For approximatley a year my left cheek has been swollen, on the inside. no pain, though a bit of sensitivity on my top left gum, where a wisdom tooth is coming through. over the year this swelling has never went down, and slowly got bigger. No1 can really see it apart from me, unless i ask them to look very closely. However over the last few weeks i have felt the other cheek swelling too. Again no pain, however when i shave my skin feels extremely sensitive and i feel as if my face is massive. If i move my tongue up and down inside my cheek i can feel what appears to be a swollen muscle? .. on both cheeks now. Also it feels as if the bit underneath my chin where my windpupe is has 2 solid oval objects in it? The swelling has now spread up to my just below my eyes (where the cheekbone just ends and there is a hole where my eye is. and I am extremely scared my eyes are going to be swollen over. Have been to see an ear nose and throat specialist who stuck a scope up my nose, gave me all clear on that. Am due to see a oral surgeon maxollifacial(sp?) specialist in a few weeks. This is having a severe impact on my confidence now and is really really making me feel down. The swelling isnt very evident on the outside.. it does feel mostly inside. but because it has never stopped and now my other cheek has started to swell i am extremely frightned that my face is never going to return to normal, and that there is something wrong with me (facial tumor perhaps?) ... sorry for the long winded post, I am just at my wits end and dont know what to do.

You know how you will often times see Ear, Nose, and Throat clinics? That is because these systems are all connected. Anything that happens in one often times affects more than one. A problem that starts with a tooth can result in infection which spreads to the tissue around it. That infection can then spread to the ears causing an ear infection, the nose causing a sinus infection, to the tonsils, throat, and lymph nodes. Swelling is the bodies way of reacting to a foreign presence in the body (infection, transplant, or an irritating substance)With these systems especially it is perfectly to have a symptom in one place such as pain and tenderness in the ear canal and find out that the cause is somewhere else such as a bad tooth. Or you could have a sore throat and find out the cause is an ear infection. In these situations it is necessicary to treat the cause first so that the body is no longer sending infection through the blood stream to the rest of the system.
