Q: Can You Catch Stuff From Public Toilets

I have ocd which doesn't help in certain situations. Yesterday, I was using a public bathroom. I always squat above as to not sit on it. Well, I lost balance and fell on the seat and it was wet. I used toilet paper to wipe off, but now I am scared of catching something. I don't have any cuts / sores in that area that I am aware of. Can you catch diseases from urine?

I heard a statistic once from somewhere and they said that your chances of catching something from a public toilet seat is less than 5% probable.

But if you wanted to be 100% safe, then you should've had a shower when you came home and washed the clothes you were wearing during that incident (which I'm sure you did).

There are more germs and bacteria on your car's steering wheel for that matter than on a toilet seat...

Don't worry about catching anything from the public toilet! You see bacteria and viruses that are the most harmful do not like to live on dead material (platic, washrooms, knobs, handles and such) They like to live in moist, humid and living places!!! So forget about it! You will not get sick from the washroom...plus if anything, there's a window of 48 hrs from when we're first exposes to toxins to get sick...so if there's been more than 48 hrs and you're fine, then you'll be fine!!! So stop stressing about it, because you're safe!!! And as far as getting sick from urine, no (unless you drink it..as I'm told!) Urine is an antiseptic! So absolutely not!!

Best of luck to you!!!! Take care. Wink

Thank You.
thank you for writing to me. I am feeling better now. Anytime something "new" or "different" happens to me, my panic sets in and it takes me a little time to get over it. It stinks having OCD / Panic.

Thanks again and happy summer - it is right around the corner. Very Happy
