Q: Chlamydia

I have been in a relationship for 7 years with the same girl. Through it all we have been faithful. For the past 2 years we have been having unprotected sex. About 2 weeks ago we had sex, the next day I had to work outside in the heat and didn't shower from the night before. I noticed that day that the head of my penis started to burn at first. It just felt really "warm" not when I peed just all the time. Shortly thereafter it started to burn when I urinated. I just thought it was a UTI so all I did was go out and buy some Cranberry juice. My back was hurting and when I drank a lot of water the burning would cease. But the persistent warm feeling in the head of my penis continued. It got better at first but then proceeded to start to burn again. So this time I went to my doctor. My doctor originally thought that I had a kidney infection and took some blook and a urine sample. I had been taking URISTAT to ease the pain at that time and it was still in my system. I had also taken some of my gf's anti-bacterial medicine from a prior UTI that she had. I explained to the doctor that there was some wet spot in my underwear but it was the same color as my urine (which was dyed with the URISTAT). She brushed that off and never even mentioned a STD at that time. She prescribed Cipro but it didn't help at all, in fact my symptoms got much worse. A few days later they called me and told me that the first test for chlamydia had come back positive and that the lab was going to test it again. But that my urine did not culture anything. The nurse on the phone wasn't aware that they did not swab me but they just took a urine sample and seemed like it was odd that they would "retest". Needless to say the second test came back positive as well and they switched me to a 10 day Dioxycln. After hearing that I had tested positive my gf rushed to the doctor and got her own test. Which results have not come back on, but the doctor said her cervix looked fine and there were no signs. She was treated for a yeast infection a few days before and the DR. said that wasn't an issue. But the same doctor prescribed the 1 day Zithro treatment for her as a precautionary measure. Now here are my questions.

1. What are the chances that my urine test was a false positive? And how often do they have to test it twice? I assume that the test was close and they had to do it again just to make sure.
2. Could my gf's yeast infection have anything to do with my symptoms?
3.Why wouldn't there be a culture of bacteria from my urine?
4. Wouldn't Cipro had at least helped with the symptoms? And why did I have back pain and if I drank a ton of water the burning would go away?

Any help would be great!

Well I am sure that it was correctly positive. The thing with Cipro is....it makes you feel worse before you get better. That is a common side effect the docs don't often mention. Same with doxycycline. The fact that you have been with your partner for so long and say that you guys don't cheat on each other makes me wonder?? There is no way either of you would have had this infection for years withoout knowing. They say no more than 6 months until you notice. Most people get symptoms weeks after. This std dosen't just "form" on its own. so it sounds to me like maybe someone has been going outside of the relationship sleeping wth others????

Well my gf's test came up negative and they did a full culture and swab of her cervix. I just don't know of anyway she could be negative and me a positive. It doesn't add up...I would say that this would mean I was a false positive...
