Q: Spinal Tumor And Testicular Pain?

I've had odd testicular pain for about the past 6 months. It wasn't bad at first, but things went down hill. I went to see a GP after a couple months which was when it started to get worse. He said it was epididymitis and treated me with antibiotics.

The pain persisted and I went to a urologist. From feeling around and my description, he said it wasn't epididymitis. I've seen him multiple times before with urinary problems which turn out may be a symptom.

Symptoms:

Intermittent testicular pain, both inside my left testicle (sort of feels like a headache, except in my testicle) and shooting sharp pain down the left side of my scrotum

My scrotum has started to constantly be in a state of "shrinkage" which is getting rather uncomfortable

I've also started to get lower back pain to the left of my spine. Almost feels like a muscle soreness but thats not the case.

Previously, I've had urinary and ejaculatory problems. It takes me a while to start urinating, when it's bad it can be up to like 30 seconds. Also a weak stream and stopping/starting. Also I take way too long to ejaculate, sometimes sex could take upwards of an hour and a half plus. I was put on Flomax a year ago and it seemed to help somewhat.

So the urologist said that it sounded like the problem may not be in my actual testicle, so he thought it might be caused by a herniated disk. I had a lumbar MRI done and it found a tumor 7mm x 4mm x 10mm which they said was probably a Schwannoma. Here is a link to a photo of the MRI:

I went to a neurologist and he said that he was sure it was not the cause of my problems, but after MRIs of the rest of my spine and skull and a urodynamics test, he's going to refer me to Duke.

The pain seems to occur more often after being active and as a culinary student I'm on my feet all day everyday and its getting past the point of being managable.

Sorry for the long post, but before I go to Duke, could the tumor be the cause of my problems, and if so what would the treatment options be?

Any disturbance in the spine can negatively affect sexual organs.

I have a question for you - in the MRI picture you provided, what is that long white line on the right side of your spine? And, the little black spot in that long white line is the tumor? Sorry, I don't know how to read that photo.

Aye, the black spot is the tumor. I THINK the white space is the actual nerve cords which I think is called the medullary or neural canal. I'm not sure though. I didn't have a chance to ask the neurosurgeon, he was rather dismissive and seemed eager to send me to Duke.

Also to mention, I did have a testicular ultrasound which showed no testicular cancer or epiditymal inflammation, and was quite frankly pretty amusing.
