iam 23 y old male ... i had liver function tests of the following values
total bilirubin: 0.7 mg/dl
alkaline phosphatase: 185
S.G.P.T: 24 u/ln
S.G.O.T: 16 u/ln
...................
serum proteins :
Total:5.2 g/l
albumin: 3 g/l
A/G ratio: 1.3

The albumin level is 3 g/l ......is it low??
as the normal level is 3.5-5.2
iam really confused ......plz help

before i answer, just to point out an issue about the units...

normal albumin range of 3.5-5 is in terms of g/dl (that is grams per decilitre, not grams per litre)

i presume your result was 3.0 g/dl

this is a little bit on the low side of normal, but this may or may not be significant. definitely nothing to be alarmed about until we know a bit more and repeat the tests to check.

It also depends on whether you have any other symptoms.

why did you have your liver function tests done in the first place? was it routine or have you been unwell in any way recently?

tell me a bit more about whats been happening, and then i'll be able to get back to you with a clearer answer.
