Hello,

Recently I have been experiencing absence seizures where I space out for a minute or two and become totally unaware as to what I am doing. I had seizures as a toddler, but subsequently was symptom free and did not require medication until recently.

My neurologist has requested MRI's of the brain and EEG's which thankfully have been normal. I have also had my eye's examined and do not have the lisch nodules either.

My questions are as follows:
you seem to have and how would I be aware of them if I did have them?

1. I am on Tegretol CR200 - taking 2 tablets in the morning and 3 in the evening, and am still experiencing these seizures. It is normal for this to occur after 10 months? I am experiencing monthly seizures which normally occur shortly after I have completed my monthly period. Do you think there could be any connection with this and my seizures?

2. Are there any other medications that can be taken that will prevent these seizures without causing weight gain?

I am so distressed that I am having these seizures every month as they are now affecting my ability to find a job.

Thanks for your help
