Q: HPT test negative ... why did I miss my period ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 12th, 2007
ok i am now 6 days late for my period and so far no cramping. normally the week before my period i show very noticable signs...such as severe cramping. ive been very exhausted for the past almost 2 weeks now, i can get a full nights sleep and still halfway through the next day want to take about a two hr nap. my breast started showing tenderness and being slightly swollen about two days ago and just tonight my boyfriend and i had sex and i started to discharge a light brown to light pink but still no cramping. probably for two and a half weeks now my forehead has been warm to the touch something like a slight fever...nothing serious. i took a hpt on the 10th and it came back negative. if i am pregnant we both will be very delighted and this is why im so curious as to whats happening? thanks so much

Missing a period is the first serious sign of pregnancy... but it does not always indicate pregnancy. It seems in your case that a negative pregnancy test excluded pregnancy as a possible reason for missing your period. The brown and then pink discharge was probably the missing “period”. Cycles without ovulation usually manifest as a delayed period without cramps. You can visit your gynecologist for an examination and to report the abnormal menstrual cycle.
