Hi kemberlyb,

I am writing this because I have seen my mother go through 20 years of extreme pain and heartache.

She had an IUD put in her, a copper one, when she was 20, this was 2 yrs afte she had my brother & I. The IUD was removed 2 yrs later and 4 yrs after that proceeded to have children.

After a long time of trying she had excruciating pain and ended up in hospital. It was here that they found the IUD actually caused an infection when it was inside her and that one of her fallopian tubes had "blown up". The other one was that infected and scarred there was no chance of falling pregnant.

My mother had countless operations to try and clean up her remaining tube but by the time she healed from each operation made it impossible to fall pregnant. My mum then went through 8 yrs of IVF including ICSI & other forms of to try and have a child, however unfortunatley she could not. This tore my family apart and I would hate to see anyone else go through the pain that my family went through. My stepfather remarried and his wife fell pregnant in mths with twins.

I don't want to alarm you as of course this was a procedure done 23 years ago and times and the reliability of technology has changed considerably since then, and of course I am most certainly not a doctor, but please be careful and I suggest speaking to a doctor to ensure all is OK. Its better to rule out everything than to wait like and find out nothing can help.

If there's anything I can do please feel free to email me

Milla
