My daughter is 7 and always needs to
sleep. I cannot wake her up in the
mornings unless I go in at least 5 times.
She goes to sleep overs with 5 other
girls and at 7 she goes to bed. I had
her blood work done and everything came
back negative. If you have any thoughts
or have been through something like
this-please let me know. I honestly
don't know what is wrong with her, but the
pediatrician said she is fine but I know
she isn't...

Is it possible she isn't getting enough
deep sleep? Maybe she has large tonsils
and she isn't getting enough air while she
is sleeping. My youngest daughter used
to snore at night. She didn't stop
breathing, but it sounded like she
struggle to get air. She did out grow
it. It is good that you are concerned.
You know your daughter. Maybe a sleep
study would be a good idea. Just a
thought.

This has been like this for at least a
year. She got sick and wound up having
strep throat and at that point they gave
her a breathing treatment because they
heard crackling in her chest. After the
breathing treatment the crackling was gone
so now she has been diagnosed with mild
asthma. I was told to only give her the
medicine when she needed it. I am
wondering if I should try doing it right
after dinner to see if this helps.
Any thoughts?

You should probably check with her doctor
first. I don't know any thing about
asthma. Is she tired during the day?
Some children need more sleep than others.
You mentioned she had had strep throat.
I assume she was given an antibiotic.
What about mono? Usually a mono test is
given if there is tiedness and a sore
throat. My baby sister had mono and was
tired and very pale color for a long time.
Just another thought.

She was tested for everything last week
and everything in the blood work came back
negative. I am not sure what to try.
Someone else told me to try turning her
fan on at night. I guess I will try the
fan first before giving her more medicine.
Right now she is on amoxicillan, and the
albuterol I give to her about once a
month....

You might want to check out www.Webmd.Com then do
a search of asthma in children. It did
list some of the symptoms you mentioned.
It is a great site for any medical
problems. I think antibiotics can also
make you very tired. It kills off the
good bacteria as well as the bad. I
usually eat more yogurt with the live
culture in it when i'm on antibiotics.
I will check back in the future and see
how your daughter is doing. Best of luck
to you.

Take your daughter to a sleep specialist.
If there is something wrong, they'll find
it. Then you will know for sure if she is
okay and just a little sleepy head. Best
of luck to you. I'm always sleepy without
my medicine. I'm narcoleptic.
