question: I have a cold & sore throat. No big deal on its own. However, this morning I found it incredibly hard to breathe (this was in throat, near voice box), and it was very noisy while I was gasping for breath. I do not have a cough, am not short of breath (apart from the incident which lasted a couple of minutes), and my throat is very dry. I was sleping upright at the time.

Please can you let me know what the problem was, and anything I should do to avoid it happening again.

Please... just go to a doctor or a clinic! They have medicine that can help you get better.

Take asprin. Asprin reduces swelling. That might help. It might also reduce pain. Also, have cough drops. Thirdly, there are cough medicines that help clear out the gunk in your throat and chest; you need to get rid of it.
