Q: Upper right quadrant gnawing pain after gallbladder removal
asked by: DoctorQuestion on May 8th, 2007
Upper right quadrant gnawing pain, has progressively gotten worse since gb was removed 5 years ago. Currently wakes me up 2-4 times per night, gets better with drinking liquids. Usually does not occur during the day. Any ideas? I would love to sleep through the night.

Current medical status: I've had a upper gi, ct scan, upper endoscopy. I've recently tried nexium, sucralfate, levbid, prozac, protonix and over the counter meds (prilosec, etc). I've seen 2 different specialist.
Current medical treatment: Currently on levbid, for second time, no help. Dr is currently trying me on different meds."

After so many diagnostic procedures with negative results, it’s really difficult at this point to identify the real problem. The only diagnostic procedure that remains is a laparoscopy. You can consult an internist and abdominal surgeon for help.
